About Me
My name is Lucas Schoaf, and I am from the small town of Lena, IL, with a population of around 3,000. Growing up, I spent countless hours working on cars with my dad and making videos on a 1994 Panasonic Palmcorder. These experiences taught me the values of hard work and creativity, which continue to guide me today.
I initially enrolled at Loras College as an undeclared major with aspirations of becoming a high school history teacher. However, after exploring several courses in creative media, I found my true passion and declared a major in Creative Media during my sophomore year. Over the years I have gained valuable experience in various roles, including serving as a Multimedia Intern, a Loras College Sports Media Intern, a freelance Photographer and Videographer, and most recently as a Creative Content Producer for Loras College Productions, where I produce content for the Dubuque Community School District across all social platforms, broadcast television, and live events.
I have had over 50 photos published in the Telegraph Herald and four videos featured in the Loras Legacy Symposium Film Festival, two of which won the Audience Choice Award. I have had two videos selected for the Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival, with one taking home gold in student documentary. Additionally, five of my videos have been nominated for the Iowa College Media Association Awards, where I have also won awards for Best Video Promo or PSA and Best Corporate Video and one selection for the Snake Alley Festival of Film. My freelance work has also brought me the opportunity to collaborate with NBC and Belletrist Productions, further broadening my experience across professional media environments. I have also edited videos for organizations such as the Telegraph Herald and Junior Achievement.
Throughout my career I have developed a strong foundation in live production, regularly directing multi-camera broadcasts, operating switchers and audio boards, and delivering content across streaming and broadcast platforms. I thrive in fast paced environments where preparation, adaptability, and attention to detail matter.
I am drawn to work that has real purpose behind it. The opportunity to bring professional media production to an organization that genuinely impacts people's lives and to grow alongside a team that takes that work seriously is what drives me. I am a firm believer in the power of visual storytelling, and I am committed to bringing creativity and craftsmanship to every production I am a part of.
